Please go to jekyllisland.com for maps and further information about Jekyll Island, including details about transportation and activities on the island.
The conference will be held at the Jekyll Island Convention Campus, located in the heart of the historic district and within walking distance to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, the official hosts of the Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Meeting. All of the preferred hotels that are offering discounted rates to our attendees are within just a few minutes' drive to the Convention Campus. There is plenty of parking, with over 500 spaces available, but we encourage everyone to carpool when possible. Click here for a map of Jekyll Island, including locations of hotels. The location marked "The Morgan Center" is also the location of the Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Meeting. Jekyll Island, an environmentally fragile narrow ribbon of land, hosts an incredible number of visitors each year. Last year alone, 1.2 million vacationers descended on the seven-mile-long island. With so many visitors, conservation and environmental education is imperative for the island's survival. Hotels, who host many of the visitors, can play a large role in conservation. Sustainability and conservation may be popular corporate buzzwords, but for these hotels it is a way of life. From rain collection barrels and towel/linen re-use programs to biodegradable chemicals and special lighting for sea turtles, these property owners are committed to green business practices. These hotels have chosen to support the Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Network by offering preferred rates for rooms booked through The Zenith Group for this meeting, as well as rebates back to SERSTN to be used for future meetings. Please support these hotels, and SERSTN, by going to The Zenith Group and booking your hotel rooms at any of the participating properties noted. *Please note that there is a $5 daily parking fee upon entering the island. Fees are paid at the Greeting Station, approached via the causeway that connects the island to the mainland. Multi-day passes are available. From I-95, take exit 29 for US 17 East. Follow the signs for Jekyll Island for about 10 miles. Turn right onto Downing Musgrove Causeway (GA 520). If you go over the big suspension bridge (into Brunswick), you've gone too far. The Causeway will take you directly to the Greeting Station and onto the island. Brunswick's Golden Isles Airport (BQK): Located about 25 miles north of Jekyll Island. This small regional airport offers flights by Atlantic Southeast Airlines/The Delta Connection, with several flights connecting through Atlanta every day. Rental cars are available through Avis, Hertz, and Budget. Savannah /Hilton Head International Airport (SAV): Located about 90 miles (1.5 hrs) north of Jekyll Island. The Savannah Airport offers flights through American Airlines, Delta, Continental, United Airlines and US Airways. Rental cars are available through most of the major companies.
