Venue
The Symposium venue is the Las Brisas Huatulco Resort, which is located in Bahía de Tangolunda, Huatulco, State of Oaxaca, Mexico. This hotel spans over 50 acres of spectacular sandy beaches and lush vegetation, with 480 air conditioned deluxe rooms and suites and a large variety of guest services, restaurants, bars, sports and recreational activities in a family environment.
We strongly recommend that participants make early travel plans and reservations; although March is still low season for Mexican tourism in Huatulco, there is a high demand from Canadian and European visitors wanting to escape from the early spring cold at home.
Huatulco has a warm sub humid climate, with an average temperature of 28°C (aprox. 80°F); March is among the best months to visit since temperatures are rather pleasant and rain is not expected. This allows for numerous outdoor activities at day or night.
The climate fosters exuberant vegetation, with a well conserved low dry forest, a typical neotropical fauna and a rich and diverse marine ecosystem.
Huatulco is an integrally planned tourism resort with a strong conscience of ecology and service, which fits perfectly with the conservation philosophy of the Sea Turtle Symposium. Within Huatulco Bays, the urban infrastructure follows international standards of quality and environmental protection, as well as great respect for the regional architecture and its natural surroundings. Because of this, it holds important international recognitions like the EarthCheck Certificate and Green Globe Award.
Travel, Lodging and Local Transportation
We will now be working with the agency Fusion Travel DMC. With them you can arrange your trip, lodging at the venue or alternative hotels and local transportation. They will also offer fieldtrips and visits to interesting sites in the Huatulco area for the registered participants to the Symposium.
If you choose to make your room reservations directly with Las Brisas Huatulco Resort, please ask for information about the special conference rate. This special rate will hold if you reserve through XP&P Travel.
You need to be a registered participant to the Symposium in order to enjoy special rates and services from the Venue Hotel and the Travel Agency. Please go to the Registration Desk for more information.
Please note that in order to fulfill our commitments with the Las Brisas Huatulco regarding room blocking, most reservations for the Symposium must be done prior to January 31st, 2012. So please make sure to start your travel plans early.
